DESCRIPTION
One of the PC's most successful first-person shooters moves to Sega's Dreamcast console with this release of Unreal Tournament. The graphics of 1998's original Unreal were revolutionary and the basic 3D engine created for that game is still being used in games under development several years after its release. Gameplay of the original Unreal was heavily focused on fast action and violent confrontation. This sequel offers more of the same frantic fragging through smooth, richly textured, thoroughly believable environments, but with a distinct emphasis on competition and multiplayer battles.
As in the PlayStation 2 port of this title, the Dreamcast's Unreal Tournament features a special split screen mode for multiplayer combat between friends in the same room. This Dreamcast version of the game is also designed to work with the dial-up modem or the broadband adaptor for online multiplayer games where a connection is available. Though some of the larger maps from the original release have been replaced with less memory-intensive levels, this Dreamcast version of Unreal Tournament is tailored to offer all of the gameplay elements that helped to make the PC version a success. ~ T.J.
