DESCRIPTION
Move over, Indiana Jones. Step aside, Lara Croft. Video gaming has a new adventurer in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. Trapped on a tropical island crawling with pirates, treasure hunter Nathan Drake seeks out the legendary fortune of his apparent ancestor, Sir Francis Drake. He'll explore ancient forts, lush jungles, mysterious catacombs, and other exotic areas, using a combination of firearms and hand-to-hand combat to defeat enemies. A female filmmaker named Elena Fisher accompanies Drake to document his latest exploits.
As with more famous video game heroes, Drake is no slouch when it comes to feats of agility, from swinging on vines to leaping over rocks to shimmying across precarious ledges. He must also seek out and use cover to protect himself from enemy gunfire. Dramatic chase sequences on watercraft and in a jeep are included for a cinematic feel, and over 50 minutes of cut-scenes help flesh out the swashbuckling story. Drake's Fortune is developer Naughty Dog's (Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter) first foray on PlayStation 3. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

“Love how in the jeep chase scene, my vehicle is bullet-resistant and regenerates health while not taking damage - and all of my enemies' vehicles explode at the slightest provocation. :-P Throwing...”

“The Uncharted series will always have a special place in my heart. Definitely not worth missing Naughty Dog's big ps3 return. Just mind that out of the trilogy, you play this one first, as the sequel's enormous boost in quality might make it feel like a fair bit of a downgrade. It's like playing Batman: Arkham City and then going back to Asylum and realising that they really improved the combat system dramatically between the two.
What I liked:
- Cinematic adventure, with enjoyable cutscenes, great voiceacting and interesting characters.
- Graphics are just brilliant, especially when it comes to the environment; lush forests never looked so lush, and 'look at how the water makes your jeans go all squidgy!'
- Gameplay is decent amounts of fun; shotgun has a real kick to it, and headshots are satisfying to pull off.
- The scenery is just awesome, a necessity in any adventure title.
What I didn't like:
- Tack-on sixaxis aiming system for grenades - Uncharted came out around the time that many titles were tacking these features on to try and make use of possibly the most irritating motion-sensor known to modern man.
- Gameplay may get slightly repetitive as you progress in terms of it just throwing hordes of same-y pirates at you.

“Ah, my first PS3 game! And what a way to kick things off, too! I was absolutely glued to my TV from beginning to end. We only had a 19" flat screen at the time and I practically had to sit on top of it to see, but that was a sacrifice I was...”
“Ah, my first PS3 game! And what a way to kick things off, too! I was absolutely glued to my TV from beginning to end. We only had a 19" flat screen at the time and I practically had to sit on top of it to see, but that was a sacrifice I was willing to make. The story was great, the humor was even more-so, the music was epic, the gameplay was spot-on, and the zombies were...well, out of place, until I realized they were going for an "Indiana Jones" feel. Then they kind of worked. Either way, go play this if you haven't!

“In the run up to Uncharted 3, I've decided to play through the first 2 games in the series again. I've started pretty late, so we'll see if I can actually finish both the games in under 2 days. ...”
