DESCRIPTION
Based on the FOX animated series, Ultimate Muscle follows the intergalactic exploits of Kid Muscle and his Muscle League friends as they compete in a series of wrestling matches to save planet Earth from an evil organization known as dMp. Aliens in this gruesome group include Tyranniclaw, so named for his dinosaur-like appendage; Boaconda, whose metallic frame expands like that of a snake; and Addversarious, who seeks revenge after being defeated by Kid Muscle in their first bout.
Five modes of play include Story Mode, Survivor Mode, 3 vs. 3 Team Battle, Versus Mode, and Training. Story Mode has players cast in the role of Kid Muscle as he fights a series of villainous opponents to save the world. Survivor Mode lets players choose any available character and battle the computer for the right to unlock characters Buffaloman or Ataru Kinnikuman, depending on the selected difficulty level. 3 vs. 3 Team Battle involves selecting three characters and then participating in a one-on-one elimination match until one team is completely defeated.
Versus Mode lets players challenge a friend using the Game Link Cable, while Training allows players to practice their techniques under the tutelage of Ramenman and Meat. Also included is a Directory option that lists the profiles, special moves, and roles of all the characters featured in the game. The action is played from a side-scrolling perspective as players grapple with opponents using a timing-based vertical meter that determines a move's success. Battery backup saves Story Mode progress as well as character development during the course of play. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide
