Now you can play Turtles, the Stern Arcade game, on your Adventure Vision tabletop system. You control a frisky turtle whose sole mission in life is to rescue turtlettes from mystery squares and transport them to the safety house. Be careful, though, because two of the eight mystery squares in each level contains deadly beetles.
If you enter a square that houses a turtlette, it will jump on your back to be carried to the safety house that will appear in one of the corners of the maze. If the square contains attacking beetles, a warning buzzer will sound, signaling you to crawl for your life.
Outmaneuvering the beetles in order to stay alive is obviously a big part of the strategy in this game, but you are also equipped with bug bombs. These bombs aren't lethal, but if a beetle walks into one, the unlucky bug will be temporarily immobilized.
You can pick up extra bombs by crawling through the flashing bonus square in the middle of the screen, but you can only drop one bomb at a time. Once a beetle walks into a bomb you have planted, you may drop another bomb.
There are eight levels of floors in Turtles, but the game will not end until all your turtles have been destroyed by beetles. You receive an extra life when you score 5,000 points. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide
