DESCRIPTION
Australian developer Auran continues its acclaimed simulation series with the release of Trainz Railroad Simulator 2006. As in previous iterations, players are charged with the task of operating a successful railroad business across multiple routes. Available roles include hauling freight, performing high-speed passenger runs, and managing day-to-day yard operations. One of the game's key features is its flexibility, giving users the choice of observing the action from afar or to actually drive a particular train to its destination.
Ten region-specific routes are available, blending historic scenarios with modern day and even fantasy routes throughout the U.S., Canada, Spain, Germany, and other countries. Extensive customization options allow players to edit maps and track types, change the viewpoint, and import new sound effects and images. Internet support is also included for text messaging, transferring trains to a friend's map, and downloading additional content. An estimated 30,000 assets can be acquired online to shape the game as players see fit. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide
