The toys are back in town! Sheriff Woody, superhero Buzz Lightyear and the rest of the computer animated gang return to the big screen in Toy Story 2. A greedy toy collector has stolen Woody, and Buzz must rescue him before Andy returns from camp; Buzz enlists the help of Hamm the piggy bank, Mr. Potato Head, Rex the dinosaur and Slinky Dog to aid him in his mission. After Buzz and the gang brave the dangers of Andy's neighborhood, the thieving collector's toy store and the toy collector's high rise, they are dismayed to learn that Woody has been convinced by his new pals, the Roundup Gang, to stay with them and live eternally as collectibles in a Japanese museum. It is up to Buzz to remind Woody of his toy family and of the love of their best friend and playmate, Andy.
Now you can relive the excitement (and much of the plot) of the feature film at home on your PlayStation with Disney/Pixar's Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue!. In this game you control Buzz Lightyear through fifteen levels of 3D platforming adventure. Buzz can run, jump, climb and slide. He can push certain items and perform a Super Foot Stomp to operate machinery or catapult himself into the air. To help him ward off various robots, bosses (such as the Evil Emperor Zurg) and other enemies, he is equipped with a spin attack maneuver and a laser weapon, which can be fired in regular or targeting mode.
In each level, a character will give you as Buzz the task of finding five objects. For example, in Andy's house you must track down five of Bo-Peep's lost sheep. Also, each level has a time-based obstacle course or race, such as when you are in the garage and must race a remote control car around Andy's mom's van. Other level objectives include solving puzzles, collecting Pizza Planet tokens and finding and giving coins to Hamm. Rex the dinosaur is on hand to help guide you and give advice.
In the last zone of the game, which takes place at the airport, you must face the Prospector. He is the leader of the Roundup Gang, which is the group of western television show toys with whom Woody hung out in the 1950s. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide
