DESCRIPTION

Lara Croft makes her return appearance in Tomb Raider III: Adventures of Lara Croft, an adventure game set in five of the most treacherous locations on the face of the Earth. The locations include India, London, Nevada, the South Pacific and Antarctica, each of which is broken into a total of nineteen massive levels to explore. In her travels, Lara Croft will come across and battle a horde of enemies including monkeys, snakes, dinosaurs, jungle natives, an abundance of guards, workers and other exotic animals and beings.

Lara is provided with a very large range of weaponry that include dual pistols, a shotgun, a grenade and rocket launcher, MP5, an Uzi, harpoon gun, a desert eagle and flares. Tomb Raider III reveals the heroine in four different outfits that change depending on her mission. Her wardrobe ranges from her usual attire to a new cat suit and winter jacket. Players will have the option to control new vehicles that include a quad bike, kayak, cart and an underwater propulsion unit. Levels are less linear in this adventure and feature a total of fifty-nine secrets and a number of short cuts. To help you find all these things, Lara can now perform monkey swings, crawl and sprint. Her mansion has been included (which made its debut in Tomb Raider II) with bigger and more rooms, a shooting range and a personal gym.

Visually, the game takes advantage of 3D accelerator cards allowing for advanced lighting and special effects as well as varied colors and textures. The aural experience has been changed and adds new walking and weapon effects. Keeping in the tradition of the series, however, the soundtrack is mostly silence with the occasional ambient tune. ~ Brad Penniment, All Game Guide
