DESCRIPTION
Tomb of Taskmaker is the sequel to StormImpact's Taskmaker, only with expanded play capabilities. Play is divided into three classes, Fighter, Thief and Magician, each with access to different weapons, spells and abilities. Also introduced is the ability to play as either a male or female character. All that changes is the icon representing your character and some of the related sounds.
Statistics have been stripped to four ability bars instead of the former eight. Now, in addition to food, there is stamina, magic, and the all-important health.
Play is much as before, though the new dungeons are by turns incredibly difficult and amazingly easy, with new monsters such as Chills, Witchwrens, Bulges, Hexes and Barkbeasts to fight. Another addition is the Angels. Angels are hidden in just about every dungeon, including Castle Hall. If the food item Bucky's Beef Stew is bestowed on an Angel, she will give you her name and tell you to invoke it if you are in trouble.
All of the former 'hidden' spells from Taskmaker don't work in this new game, but new items have been introduced to make up for them. As before, on winning the game, access to the "Master" Menu allows you to reshape the world.
Thie game is shareware, downloadable from America Online. Registration is necessary to play beyond the first three tasks. Registering gets you the latest version, either on Disk or CD-ROM and the manual. ~ Lisa Karen Savignano, All Game Guide
