DESCRIPTION
Splinter Cell: Double Agent takes the stealth-based series in a new direction after three successful covert operations on multiple platforms. After learning his teenage daughter was killed in a car crash, a despondent Sam Fisher is unable to complete his duties for the NSA's splinter cell, Third Echelon, and is reassigned as a NOC, a non-official cover agent who operates from within dangerous organizations. His mission is to infiltrate a domestic terrorist group called the John Brown's Army. For the first time in the series, Fisher cannot rely solely on his gadgets or the direct support of the NSA. He must instead fall back on his keen instincts to survive while working deep undercover.
Instead of advancing through linear missions across a series of international locales, players will experience a branching storyline with multiple endings, where decisions made at one juncture will influence subsequent events as the game progresses. Fisher must initially earn the trust of the John Brown's Army to become a card-carrying member, so he must engage in carefully orchestrated heists and even an elaborate prison break to get in the good graces of key contact Jamie Washington. If Fisher is successful in befriending Washington, he will be invited to the terrorist group's headquarters, a multi-floor structure that serves as a jumping point for future missions.
From that point on, Fisher will be faced with multiple moral decisions as he walks a fine line between working with the JBA and on behalf of his NSA mentor, Irving Lambert. He will also be partnered with an AI-controlled character in many of the missions, introducing a new element to the single-player game. Of course, Splinter Cell: Double Agent also features online support via Xbox Live, including cooperative play and the exclusive spies versus mercs mode with new moves, gadgets, and a revamped team ranking system. Both the Xbox 360 and PC versions also feature larger environments, interactive cut-scenes, more on-screen characters, alternate missions, and enhanced graphics when compared to the Xbox and PlayStation 2 games. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

“This game was great for the Xbox but not that great for the 360. Few series have grabbed my attention like Splinter Cell has and all of the games have been great but I think this one was the worst in the series. What made the original xbox version so great to me was the use of the decisions. Do option A and story changed this way, option B and it changed that way. I still remember to this day how I felt when I had to make the choice of whether or not kill Lambert. It was a hard decision. I love the story of Sam Fisher and I look forward to picking up future titles for Splinter Cell games and books. ”

“brilliant game sneaking around is brilliant one downfall on the game was that they took split-screen out of it so that was a big let down.”

“Another solid entry into the Splinter Cell franchise. This time you are playing both sides trying to balance trust between a terrorist organization and the NSA. It adds a new level of complexity to the mission structure and a whole lot of challenges. I am really looking forward to the next one. Conviction looks great, and I cannot wait for it.”

“Absolutely outstanding game. Hands down the best in the series do far. New moves, new tactics and a good story as you've come to expect from this series. Can't wait for the next title to come out. The co-op multiplayer feature is nice too. It could be more but not bad for a first stab at the play style. I've played the game through 2-3 times now and it's played through for me, but wow, what a ride. :)”

“Being a huge fan of the Splinter Cell series, I picked this game up the day it came out looking for my next stealthy assassin fix. This game was a little disappointing. The first level opens up with Sam Fisher doing exactly what he is meant to do, sneak around an enemy encampment and taking out the bad guys. After that level, the game goes a little downhill, once Sam is recruited by the enemy agency, half the game gets spent with Sam doing missions and puzzles inside the enemy hideout. These missions are annoying, tedious and aggravating. You get very little guidance on what to do and where to go, they impose infuriating time limits, and your stealth mechanic (the whole point of buying this game) is horribly broken. The story is engaging, but I didn't find it was good enough to keep me engaged enough to see it through to the end. ”
