DESCRIPTION
Splinter Cell: Double Agent takes the stealth-based series in a new direction after three successful covert operations on multiple platforms. After learning his teenage daughter was killed in a car crash, a despondent Sam Fisher is unable to complete his duties for the NSA's splinter cell, Third Echelon, and is reassigned as a NOC, a non-official cover agent who operates from within dangerous organizations. His mission is to infiltrate a domestic terrorist group called the John Brown's Army. For the first time in the series, Fisher cannot rely solely on his gadgets or the direct support of the NSA. He must instead fall back on his keen instincts to survive while working deep undercover.
Instead of advancing through linear missions across a series of international locales, players will experience a branching storyline with multiple endings, where decisions made at one juncture will influence subsequent events as the game progresses. Fisher must initially earn the trust of the John Brown's Army to become a card-carrying member, so he must engage in carefully orchestrated heists and even an elaborate prison break to get in the good graces of key contact Jamie Washington. If Fisher is successful in befriending Washington, he will be invited to the terrorist group's headquarters, a multi-floor structure that serves as a jumping point for future missions.
From that point on, Fisher will be faced with multiple moral decisions as he walks a fine line between working with the JBA and on behalf of his NSA mentor, Irving Lambert. He will also be partnered with an AI-controlled character in many of the missions, introducing a new element to the single-player game. Of course, Splinter Cell: Double Agent also features online support via Xbox Live, including cooperative play and the exclusive spies versus mercs mode with new moves, gadgets, and a revamped team ranking system. Both the Xbox 360 and PC versions also feature larger environments, interactive cut-scenes, more on-screen characters, alternate missions, and enhanced graphics when compared to the Xbox and PlayStation 2 games. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

“Absolutely outstanding game. Hands down the best in the series do far. New moves, new tactics and a good story as you've come to expect from this series. Can't wait for the next title to come out. The co-op multiplayer feature is nice too. It could be more but not bad for a first stab at the play style. I've played the game through 2-3 times now and it's played through for me, but wow, what a ride. :)”

“Being a huge fan of the Splinter Cell series, I picked this game up the day it came out looking for my next stealthy assassin fix. This game was a little disappointing. The first level opens up with Sam Fisher doing exactly what he is meant to do, sneak around an enemy encampment and taking out the bad guys. After that level, the game goes a little downhill, once Sam is recruited by the enemy agency, half the game gets spent with Sam doing missions and puzzles inside the enemy hideout. These missions are annoying, tedious and aggravating. You get very little guidance on what to do and where to go, they impose infuriating time limits, and your stealth mechanic (the whole point of buying this game) is horribly broken. The story is engaging, but I didn't find it was good enough to keep me engaged enough to see it through to the end. ”

“Yet another Sam Fisher adventure, pretty similar to the last 3. Some people hate the trial and error nature of the gameplay but I always have a blast with the Splinter Cell games.”

“This game was really fun, I find myself replaying it a lot too. The tension between completing your duties for the NSA and not blowing your cover with the JBA is a fun dynamic. Great stealth game! ”

“Game is still fun after 3 years. For a budget price of 12.99 now you can't beat this deal. No other game plays like this one online and the single player is still super solid with terrific graphics.”
