The sequel to Time Crisis, Time Crisis II is an easier, more enjoyable game with smoother animation, a sunnier setting, a more lenient timer and a handful of new features; most prominently a two-player link mode via two monitors positioned side by side for cooperative gameplay. In addition, the action sometimes puts players in a speeding vehicle, such as a boat or a train, giving the game more variety and excitement. As in the original, TCII is a satisfyingly violent light gun game that employs a pedal for use in ducking from enemy fire (letting up on the pedal lets players hide and reload their guns, while pressing the pedal puts players in the heat of battle). Shooting enemies in the head is worth more points than merely hitting them in the torso or limbs, and firing on certain explosive devices (such as trucks and barrels) can destroy several enemies at once.
