Featuring some of the best visuals ever seen on the Intellivision, Thunder Castle has nicely drawn characters, detailed backgrounds, and creatures that move fluidly. Gameplay involves roaming around a forest, a castle, and a dungeon maze while slaying dragons, sorcerers, and demons. Weapons are nonexistent and control is simple, as no buttons are needed to attack. Slaying consists of touching a magic creature and then chasing after the enemy. Sounds are on par with the graphics. Every onscreen action has matching effects, and the music begins slowing down when your magical energy wears thin. The action can get tedious when the enemies continually avoid your character, but the game is nevertheless a lot of fun. ~ Jonathan Sutyak, All Game Guide
