DESCRIPTION
Based on the Commodore 64 classic (which in turn is based on the arcade classic Gravitar), Thrust for the Atari VCS makes impressive use of the system's archaic hardware. Comprising five games of varying difficulty, the object is to navigate an Asteroids-like ship through well-guarded canyons to retrieve several stolen Klystron Pods. Gravity is constantly pulling at your ship as you collect fuel, while a hail of gunfire must be avoided as you gather the pods and attempt to escape. Programmed and released in 2000 by homebrew author Thomas Jentzscht, Thrust's impressive graphics, sounds and animations make for an aesthetically appealing experience. When combined with challenging gameplay it once again proves that when VCS programming is in the right hands, the old dog is capable of some amazing new tricks. ~ Chris Cavanaugh, All Game Guide
