DESCRIPTION
Armed with an auto-targeting laser weapon, shields and the ability to transform into a fighter plane, Thexder is the ultimate war machine. But even the ultimate war machine has limits and Thexder is no exception as it fights through 16 levels filled with monstrous robotic enemies.
Thexder is a 2D side view shooter with some platformer elements. As the pilot, you must fight your way through each of the levels while preserving Thexder's energy level. If it drops to zero, you die and the game is over.
You lose energy not only when enemy units hit Thexder but also when you shoot the auto-targeting laser weapon, albeit more slowly. Destroying certain enemies throughout the levels boosts your stock of energy. You must avoid those who don't by mapping the levels.
You can use Thexder's shields to avoid taking energy losses when hit by enemies but the shields also have limited energy and eventually wear out. If you manage to successfully complete a level without activating the shields, the game rewards you by boosting your permanent energy stock.
As a robot, Thexder can run left or right and jump. At any time, it can transform into a fighter plane and back again. In plane mode, even though you can't stop, you can travel in any direction regardless of gravity. The plane can also fit through half-sized corridors that Thexder in robot form is too big to navigate.
Can you overcome the odds and pilot Thexder to victory? ~ Kyle Knight, All Game Guide
