DESCRIPTION
The Wheelman is an automotive-action video game built on the framework of a Hollywood movie, starring Vin Diesel in the lead role. An open-world interpretation of Barcelona, Spain, is the setting for the violent driving adventure. Players take control of the character Milo Burik, an expert wheelman, modeled after Diesel. Burik's got a shady past he thought he'd left behind, but chivalry calls on him to ply his underworld street racing skills one more time, to infiltrate a crime organization and rescue a woman from his past. In addition to behind-the-wheel challenges of speed, stunts, and style, players will control Burik in missions that have him out of the vehicle and on foot, waging fistfights and gunfights from a Grand Theft Auto-style third-person perspective. High-speed tricks and stunts fuel the game's driving missions. The lead character can commandeer nearly any vehicle he comes across, and even leap from one moving car to take control of another, performing an in-motion "air jack." Announced in early 2006, The Wheelman was created in collaboration with Diesel's Tigron Studios. A film version, continuing the story of the game began development at the same time as the video game. ~ T.J. Deci, All Game Guide

“An average game. For the most part you will be driving obviously, but there are missions where it's run and gun. That's a pretty concise summary of the game. There's also side missions which are all driving variants such as delivering packages, street races, taxi missions, stealing cars, etc.
The driving is arcade style and cars take huge amounts of damage before they crash so if you're looking for a realistic driving game look elsewhere. You can ram other cars using the right analogue stick to damage them, although you can also use this ram to quickly avoid other vehicles. One of the nicest things in the game is special driving moves. If you've played Stranglehold then think about Tequila Bomb powers. As you speed and cause destruction, you fill up a meter, what you do with this meter is up to you. You can use it as a speed boost, or if you press forward you get a precision shooting mode, same with backwards on the d-pad and you spin your car 180 degrees and entire precision shooting.
The on foot aspects of missions are all cover and shoot, and as long as you make sure to stay in cover you should be safe. There's different weapons in the game but I reckon you could do the entire game with the basic pistol if you really wanted.
The game does get really repetitive, especially if you want to do all the side missions, there's no real difference to the gameplay throughout. There is a story to keep you interested but personally I didn't get into it much. Maybe worth a rent but I wouldn't suggest you go hunting it down. There's some more generic aspects to the game like finding all the stunt jumps and shooting statues hidden throughout the world but there's nothing particularly new or exciting that springs to mind.
This was a pretty lazy review but to be honest I don't feel like talking about the game much :P
