One of the most popular games in the history of the game industry gets a third expansion pack with this release of The Sims: Hot Date. For the first time ever, players can follow their Sims out of the neighborhood, to a new downtown district that features restaurants, shops, and parks, designed to be the perfect setting for a budding romance. Like earlier expansions, this game adds over 100 new interactive objects to the game. Many of these, such as a "cuddle couch" and a "love tub," are related to the package's dating theme

Players can have their Sims ask one another out, to meet at a specified spot downtown. If a prearranged meeting does not work out, Sims may try to make some contact with one of the expansion's new romantically-inclined downtown characters, such as "the Jock" or "the Blonde Bombshell." In addition to conversation and flirting, Sims can now "play footsie" and even take part in some heavy "necking," if the mood is right. At the most essential level, this game follows the engaging play of its predecessors with a focus on the intricacies of character interaction and relationships, both hot and cold. ~ T.J.
