Hopeful crooners and fans of the hit television show can see if they have what it takes to become a legendary pop star with The Official American Idol Audition Kit. By using the provided microphone, wannabe Ruben Studdards and Kelly Clarksons can give it their best shot by singing along to songs karaoke-style as the lyrics are shown on their PC monitors.

Finished songs can then be uploaded to the official Audtion Kit website, where the public can vote for their favorite singers. Performers who earn the most votes can win one of several prizes, including an invitation to audition for the American Idol television show, tickets and backstage passes to an American Idol concert, a chance to meet the American Idols, and American Idol merchandise.

Several audition songs are provided, including "Oops! I Did it Again" by Britney Spears, "A Moment Like This" by Kelly Clarkson, "I'm With You" by Avril Lavigne, and many more. Two instrumental tracks are also provided, so aspiring songwriters can add their own lyrics.
