DESCRIPTION
The first expansion pack for Turbine Entertainment Software's online rendition of J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy universe, The Lord of the Rings Online: Mines of Moria takes gamers underneath Middle-earth to the famed land of the Dwarves. Players can continue their quest for greatness with their characters from Shadows of Angmar, or start fresh with the new Warden and Rune-keeper character classes. The Mines offer three new regions, 22 expansive areas, and more than 800 new monsters, but they also hold countless treasures and legendary items that become more powerful as players gain experience. ~ Christopher Brown, All Game Guide

Lord of the Rings Online : Addendum
This is an addendum to my previous review of the MMORPG "Lord of the Rings Online".
(You can find that in my reviews for the main game.)
With the release of the expansion "The mines of Moria" I got another
30-day trial period for the game and decided to check out the new class
"Rune-keeper".
The class itself is quite nice and is like a classical mage with bolts
and nice magic stuff like summoning a healing stone.
Playing the rune-keeper is very easy but extremly repeatetive.
You'll cast the same spells in the same order over and over for minimum the
first 20 levels.
Your strong in magic and exspectable low in physcal combat/defense.
You got some self-buffs and a healing stone you can sumon that will heal you and
your party members for a short period of time within a certain radius.
Following the first book is very fun and brings you already to various nice places including
meetings with Aragorn and Gandalf.
At Level 15 you get your first class specific quest which is rather simple and easy but
its a nice piece of story.
However, after you completed the first book and attained level 20 you kinda hit a black hole.
For the next 6 levels there is nothing else to do but to grind and do quests
which mainly are about grinding too.
The good is that the class offers a lot on offensive and party-support.
However, you have to decide for each battle wether you attack or heal.
Once you engaged in battle a few healing based skills become unavailable
and vice versa. If you want to switch mid-battle from offensive to healing
you need to use skills that lower the opposing element first.
The rune-keeper's major factor is this balancing system.
Its a very nice tactical component that can make the success or failure in a party.
Character Journal
For some reason I feel like the kournal and its purpose increased.
There is a huge number of grinding involved if you want to unlock most/all of
the entries but some of them are actually fun.
Some entries are rather easy to unlock bceause they simply require spamming certain spells.
However, there are much more traits to unlock within the journal then you can actually
use in the game. The trait system allows only a small number of traits
(per class, race, legendary) to be assigned to your character.
The other traits are kept in a pool and you can switch them for a fee by visiting
a Bard NPC.
The big number of available base traits is a little bit uneccessary in my opinion.
Why so many(!) when you cant use most of them?
Also you can unlock a lot base traits far quicker then you get the trait slots
for your character because these only get available by level.
