DESCRIPTION
Faithfully adapted from the 1993 animated film, The Lion King for Super NES puts players in the role of Simba, who begins as a playful cub and matures into a ferocious adult lion. Depending on his stage of growth, Simba can dispatch hyenas, hedgehogs, lizards, and other animals in a number of ways, including roaring, pouncing, tossing, and mauling, before ultimately facing Scar. The predominately side-scrolling action is both easy and frustrating as some levels are child's play and some require overly precise movements and rely too much on trial and error. In addition, the controls are erratic and repeating early sections of certain levels is boring. From an audio-visual standpoint, The Lion King is the leader of the pack: voice effects are startlingly realistic, nine selections from the film are included, and Disney artists created more than 2000 animation cels just for the game. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide
