DESCRIPTION
The epitome of a quick movie cash-in, Karate Kid is a simplistic, poorly constructed game that plays like a weak knock off of Karate Champ and Kung Fu. The four short levels draw from scenes in the first two films, beginning with the tournament at the end of the original movie and leading up to the final confrontation with Chozen at the end of The Karate Kid, Part II. The first stage is a series of one-on-one karate matches (all which can be won by rapidly pressing the kick button), with the remaining stages consisting of platform-style levels. The easy difficulty level experienced early in the game makes the jerky animation and poor controls less noticeable, but once your enemies become stronger, controlling Daniel-san is tougher than chopping through a stack of boards. ~ Skyler Miller, All Game Guide
