DESCRIPTION
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a text-based game based on the science-fiction comedy novel by British author Douglas Adams. The player takes the role of Arthur Dent, who awakens one morning with a cruel hangover, only to find out that his house is about to be demolished by highway developers to make way for a new road.
Later that afternoon, he comes to understand that entire Earth is about to be demolished by alien developers, to make way for a new intergalactic thruway. Thanks to his friendship with the strange Ford Prefect, who just happens to be an undercover alien himself, Dent is able to escape the planet before it is destroyed. Then the real adventure begins.
Like the internationally popular novel, this software version of the Hitchhiker's Guide is full of Adams' intensely clever, offbeat style of humor. While the game is faithful to the novel, it still gives the player a chance to interact with the story and make important decisions along the way. The little bonus item tchotchkes that come packaged with the game further emphasize Adams' sense of humor and include a "Don't Panic" button and a pair of (sightless) cardboard sunglasses, for players that 'just can't take it anymore.' ~ All Game Guide
