Described as "an interactive play in 8 acts" in the Sierra manual, The Colonel's Bequest is a murder mystery set in one location, an isolated island in a bayou. The year is 1925 and you play as Laura Bow, a 20-year old journalism major at Tulane University in New Orleans. You've been invited to attend a reunion of the reclusive Colonel Henri Dijon's relatives at his estate (Misty Acres Plantation) in southern Louisiana where he states his intentions to bequeath his millions to all present. Thus begins the mayhem and mystery as murder after murder occurs and your tasks include discovering not only who is behind the murders, but why they are happening. You'll uncover secrets hidden in various places in the mansion, piece together snippets of conversation you overhear and watch the unraveling of the family unit as tempers flare and betrayals become commonplace. Designed by Roberta Williams, The Colonel's Bequest is an early forerunner of the classic adventure game featuring animation and a complex plot. ~ Michael L. House, All Game Guide
