If you want to play a game of chess, grab a friend and a chessboard and get busy. If you want the option of playing by yourself (as well as against an opponent) and you are looking for unique ways in which to improve your chess game, pick up The Chessmaster 2000 for the Atari ST.
In this virtual version of chess, you can choose from 12 levels of play, from Newcomer all the way up to Grandmaster. In the Teach mode of play, The Chessmaster shows all possible legal moves, and in the Hint mode, he will suggest a move for you during each turn.
The Chessmaster 2000 follows the conventional rules of chess, but there are many unconventional features available. You can take back moves, play on a 2D or 3D board, change sides at any time, save and/or print games in progress, replay an entire game with The Chessmaster analyzing it, solve specific chess problems and watch and learn as The Chessmaster plays both sides of a game. You can even study the game of chess by replaying 100 contests from The Classic Games Library. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide
