TFX: Tactical Fighter Experiment was created by Digital Image Design, creators of the award winning EF2000 and F-22 ADF simulator games. While each of those games featured one flyable plane, TFX features three, the EF2000, the F-22, and the F-117A Stealth Fighter. The game will have you flying in the name of the United Nations in several world areas, including Somalia, Libya, and Yugoslavia.
TFX features several modes of play. The first mode is Arcade, which gets you up in the air quickly in order to shoot things down. The next mode is training, which is required if one is to go onto the campaign. The next mode is the simulator, which allows you to simply fly around any of the areas modeled in the game. This simulator allows you to fly around without the fear of enemies or mission objectives.
The next mode of play is the Tour of Duty campaign. These campaigns will be different depending on the type of plane you choose to fly. These campaigns are also dynamic, allowing for non-linear gameplay. The next mode of play is called Flash Points. These are more focused campaigns that actually follow a storyline. The final mode of gameplay is the U.N. Commander. Here you are given all the resources to plan missions yourself.
TFX is presented in full color VGA graphics and sound. Each plane has its own detailed cockpit, flight model, and mission structure. This allows for a wide variety of mission objectives. If you think you have what it takes to help the U.N. fight aggression all over the world, then strap into your F-22 and take off in TFX. ~ Brian Rubin, All Game Guide
