DESCRIPTION
The industry's most successful puzzle game makes its first appearance on Nintendo DS with six different modes of play. Tetris DS also includes wireless LAN support for up to ten players on a single card as well as Wi-Fi support for head-to-head and four-player battles online. Each game type is notable for featuring classic Nintendo themes, from Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda to Donkey Kong and Metroid.
In addition to the traditional Tetris style of play, called the Standard Mode, the game features a Touch Mode, Push Mode, Catch Mode, Puzzle Mode, and Mission Mode. Touch Mode supports the touch-screen features of the DS as players use the stylus to manipulate the pieces. Push is a two-player mode that involves pushing down the opponent's screen with every two cleared lines, while Catch has players arranging a flying block core to catch pieces in an attempt to form squares.
Puzzle Mode features more than 200 brainteasers to complete using the handheld's touch screen, with the object being to find the right piece to clear lines. Finally, Mission Mode has players completing Tetris-related goals within a specific time frame, such as eliminating multiple lines. If the goal is finished, play continues with a new mission. If time expires, part of the playing field will be filled with gray blocks for an added challenge. Like the Push Mode, Mission Mode can also be played against a friend. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

“I tested 2 modes: the standard (the one with a Mario theme) and the mission mode (the one with a TLoZelda theme)”

“Played a few matches online. Did a lot better than I thought I was going to. I'm a Tetris purist and still not used to the whole Items thing.”

Luckily online has made it more difficult for that trick.”
