DESCRIPTION
Similar to a jigsaw puzzle, this is a game about making pieces fit together. From the top of the screen pieces made up of four blocks begin to fall one at a time. Players can rotate the piecess as well as move them left and right. The objective is to form complete horizontal lines. When a line is complete it disappears. If there is a break in any line then all of the pieces in that line will remain in place. A game will only end when the pieces have accumulated too high that no more can be added.
Difficulty levels range from 0 to 9. A game can be started from any level. However, as lines are removed the level will automatically increase. At higher levels pieces fall at a faster rate of speed. Throughout a game players are provided with their total score and the total number of lines removed.
Tetris is a creation of Alexey Pajitnov, at the time a 30-year-old researcher from the former Soviet Union. The game was originally programmed by an 18-year-old student from Moscow University, Vagim Gerasimov. When released for the Commodore 64 Tetris was not a well known game. Receiving the status of being a classic would not come about until the game made its appearance on the Nintendo Game Boy. ~ Jonathan Sutyak, All Game Guide
