DESCRIPTION
Sixteen years after the Atari arcade hit Tempest sent players attacking hordes of vector-graphics enemies (circles, rectangles, triangles and other geometric shapes), Tempest 2000 bursts onto the Sega Saturn in a rework of the 1994 Atari Jaguar version. Veteran players familiar with Flippers, Spikes, Tankers, Fuseballs, and Pulsars will be at home with Traditional Tempest, one of four gameplay modes offered in this upgrade. Three new modes include Tempest Plus (attack aliens solo, use an AI Droid, or share lives with a friend), Tempest 2000 (remake of the coin-op classic), and Tempest Duel (one-on-one against another player using mirrors to deflect shots).
For players with the skill and reflexes to master the 100 levels of Tempest 2000, a "Beastly Mode" offers the ultimate challenge with slower shots, smaller bursts, and smarter enemies. Additionally, a Warp Bonus round is available after collecting three warp power-ups, allowing players to warp ahead five levels and gain a 20,000-point bonus. Tempest 2000 power ups include a particle laser, Zappo 2000 (point bonus), AI Droids, jump abilities, SuperZapper (clear the screen of enemies), warp bonuses, and an "Out of Here" level ender. Also new to Tempest 2000 is the ability to save games using "keys" awarded after level 17. ~ Michael L. House, All Game Guide
