DESCRIPTION
Tarr Chronicles is a space combat game with role-playing elements from Russian developer Quazar Studio. Players begin as fighter pilot, forced to live on the Torpan Military Alliance battle cruiser Talestra after fleeing a besieged home planet. Similar stories are occurring all over the universe as the mysterious Mirk, an "anti-element" capable of destroying whole galaxies, has sent humans scurrying for the few remaining star systems. Hope for battling the Mirk came when an ancient artifact was discovered in a distant, skeletal space station. But the Torpan caravan was attacked by the De'Khete, a parasitic alien menace, and the Talestra only escaped complete destruction when a stray shot triggered the hyperdrive, sending the ship millions of light-years from home.
Gamers must fight their way back home by completing nine sprawling missions, each featuring up to fifteen quests full of De'Khete-blasting dogfights. Players never fight alone, as AI controlled teammates provide advice and cover fire without prompting. Fighters can pilot 60 different customizable spacecraft, and outfit each ship with more than 150 weapons and part upgrades. ~ Christopher Brown, All Game Guide
