DESCRIPTION
Sierra's evolving Police Quest line shed its former title altogether for this release. The theme remains unchanged, however: following police procedure is mandatory.
Set in a near-future Los Angeles, SWAT 3: Close Quarters Battle puts the player in the boots of a SWAT element commander. A first person interface allows the player to command the four members of his team while participating in the action. Mission goals range from storming criminal hideouts, rescuing hostages and serving warrants to dangerous criminals to thwarting terrorism and protecting dignitaries.
The player is not free to use any means necessary; SWAT teams are police operations and procedure must be followed. For example, attempts must be made to convince suspects to surrender; deadly force is only to be used when absolutely necessary. In the process, every precaution must be taken to avoid injuring or killing hostages and civilians. ~ Joel Durham, All Game Guide
