A licensed game that takes little advantage of its license, Superman suffers from a number of inexcusable flaws, including generic graphics (such as bland dual-tone backgrounds), a generic, almost non-existent storyline, sluggish controls, and lame enemies (such as little robots) and obstacles that are more of an irritating (and at times frustrating) annoyance than an entertaining challenge. Enemies take quick, cheap shots, the super punch is a weak showcase for Superman's power, and the spinning maneuver is absolutely pointless as the game simply tells you when to spin in order to reach a lower level. Worst of all, the The Man of Steel cannot use his heat vision or flying ability during the platform levels. He has these attributes in the shooter levels, but the upward-scrolling shooting action is as pedestrian and as unbalanced as the rest of the game. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide
