DESCRIPTION
Look up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's Superman! And he's just in time, since Lex Luthor has blown up the Metropolis Memorial Bridge! It's up to you, the Man of Steel, to repair the bridge and take Luthor and his five henchmen to jail.
As the game begins, you are Clark Kent, a mild-mannered reporter for the Daily Planet. After walking over to the bridge and seeing it explode, you head to a phone booth and transform into Superman. As Superman, you have three main powers: super-strength, the ability to fly and x-ray vision. But watch out for kryptonite, because it renders you completely powerless. Only by locating and kissing Lois Lane will your powers be restored.
To complete the game, you must locate all six criminals and fly them to the Metropolis jail. In addition, you need to find the three pieces of the bridge that are scattered around the city and place them back over the river. The city of Metropolis consists of several different "screens" which can be traveled to by flying in any direction or by taking the subway system. Knowing the layout of the city is essential to completing your tasks in the least amount of time possible, which is the ultimate goal of the game.
Note: The Atari version of Superman is identical to the game published by Sears. ~ Skyler Miller, All Game Guide
