DESCRIPTION
Super Dropzone is a futuristic side-scrolling shooter set on the four largest moons of Jupiter. In the year 2095, players are charged with the daunting task of protecting ten colonists from marauding aliens. The dropzone in the title refers to a landing pad located somewhere on the moon where innocent people can be carried to. The four moons of Io, Ganymede, Callisto, and Europa each span ten levels apiece and are protected by an evil guardian that must be defeated in order to resume the mission. Super Dropzone is an enhanced remake of Dropzone, which was released across multiple computer platforms in 1984.
If players fail to keep the bare minimum of one person alive, either on the moon's surface or from within the dropzone base, the moon's stabilizer will become unbalanced, causing volcanoes to become active once again and subsequent missions more difficult. To make things easier, the character has been outfitted with a jetpack, a temporary cloaking device, and a cache of powerful weapons. Enhancing firepower is accomplished by collecting power-ups found along each stage. The fight must continue until every last alien has been eliminated from the moons as well as Jupiter itself — only then will the character be granted a hero's welcome on Earth. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

“Good grief, I forgot how frustrating this game is. Still fun for some reason, though. This thing needs a "failed miserably" button.”
