DESCRIPTION
Originally released for the Arcade, Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors' Dreams comes to the PC with ten fierce combatants. As the first edition in the Alpha series, this 2D brawler features old favorites such as Ryu and his buddy Ken, Chun-Li and Sagat along with new characters including Guy (from Capcom's side-scrolling beat 'em up Final Fight), Sodom, Birdie and Rose. Each fighter packs an assorted array of kicks, punches, throws and lethal chain combinations.
There is also a series of Super Combos to utilize. Once the Super Combo Level Gauge has been completely filled, your fighter can execute these combinations along with Alpha Counters. To fill the meter, you'll need to unleash a series of regular attacks and combos against your opponent. A Super Combo's damage is determined by the buttons pressed — the more you press, the more damage you'll inflict. To make things a little easier on the player, Capcom has incorporated a method to bind any given key or button to unleash a series of three kicks or three punches at once.
Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors' Dreams contains a few gameplay modes: arcade, training, versus and option. Newbie fighters may want to select the training mode before getting into actual fights. As a means of practice, you can experiment with special attacks and combinations on unmovable characters but they will block your attacks. Once training is complete, it's time to head to the arcade mode. Much like the Arcade version, you'll select a character and take it through eight computer-controlled fighters. Each character has an unresolved issue or a reason for entering the tournament — help them fulfil their destiny!
After going through arcade mode, grab a friend and show 'em what you've got in versus mode. This is nothing more than a heated competition for the crown of Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors' Dreams champion. Finally, the option menu allows you to adjust various settings including sound, background music, difficulty, setup and button/key configurations.
Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors' Dreams also supports Microsoft's Sidewinder Game Pad and features new character animations and artwork. Do you have the ambition and drive to become a champion? If so, get ready to kick some butt and fulfil your dreams! ~ Matthew House, All Game Guide
