DESCRIPTION
After two versions of Street Fighter III, Capcom returned to the Street Fighter Alpha series for a third installment on the CPS2 hardware. The most notable new feature is the ability to choose between three "ism" fighting styles: X-ism, A-ism and V-ism. The defense-oriented X-ism is most similar to the style of Super Street Fighter II Turbo, with its single "super combo." A-ism plays similarly to the previous Street Fighter Alpha games, and V-ism is similar to A-ism, except you are able to perform "custom combos" instead of "super combos." Other changes and additions include the guard meter, which allows only a limited amount of blocking before you are defenseless; harder-to-perform throws that require two buttons; and the ability to recover from air and ground attacks by pressing either two punches or two kicks, respectively. The game features all-new backgrounds and a selection of 25 characters, plus three hidden combatants that are unlockable using special codes. ~ Skyler Miller, All Game Guide
