DESCRIPTION

In the text adventure Starcross, players assume the role of the skipper of the Starcross, a space mining ship in the year 2186 which happens upon an enormous derelict alien spacecraft adrift in the solar system. An auto-defense system aboard the alien vessel subjects intruders to a combination intelligence test/scavenger hunt challenge, the prize for which is knowledge beyond anything presently known. With story elements bearing more than just a passing resemblance to such science fiction literary classics as Rendezvous At Rama, Starcross proves that despite a legacy of sci-fi comedies including Planetfall and Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, Infocom was just as capable of delivering a serious science fiction text adventure too. ~ Earl Green, All Game Guide
