DESCRIPTION
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back is a 2D action game based on the movie of the same name. You assume the role of Luke Skywalker on his way to learning the ways of the Force. He will be joined in his fight against the evil Empire by Han Solo, who provides the former farmboy with helpful leads.
Luke's ultimate goal is to defeat Darth Vader. Along his journey, he must encounter a legendary Jedi Master named Yoda, who will show him the ways of the Force. If he prepares well (i.e., finds the proper items in the swamps of Dagobah and other parts of the game), Luke will eventually be able to jump higher, run faster, reflect enemy shots with his lightsaber, enhance his weapons' power, levitate and heal himself.
Aside from the 2D platform levels comprising most of Luke's adventure, he must also take on AT-ATs in a snowspeeder and destroy cloud cars on his way to Bespin via his X-wing. He'll also have access to a Tauntaun at times and even get to blast away at Snowtroopers in a two-legged AT-ST (the walkers seen on Endor in Return of the Jedi).
Other enemies encountered include Probe Droids, swamp creatures, Wampas and Boba Fett. Of course, your final confrontation is with the Dark Lord of the Sith. Only one strong with the Force will even have a chance against this menace. ~ Christopher Michael Baker, All Game Guide
