Tehkan's Star Force assigns players one mission: strafe enemy bases, blast everything in sight, and stay alive if at all possible. Though it's yet another variation on the Xevious vertical scrolling shooter genre, Star Force is devilishly difficult, featuring a rogues' gallery of enemies with different patterns of attack and different defenses. In fact, once one gets to a certain point, the enemies are too overwhelming, and the game's toughness loses its appeal. Those interested in this genre are advised to stick with Xevious and its genre-defining spinoffs, or to the visually dazzling but eminently more playable Attack Of The Savage Bees. One interesting feature of Star Force is its labeling of bosses with letters from the Greek alphabet; the letter indicating which boss a player has beaten is incorporated into his high score listing along with his initials. Star Force is fun, but its difficulty level is exhausting. ~ Earl Green, All Game Guide
