DESCRIPTION
Spy vs. Spy 2: The Island Caper is Epyx's second foray into the world of the MAD characters of White Spy and Black Spy. In the game both of the title characters are trapped on a dessert island together and must successfully assemble three portions of a missile and find the escape submarine before the other player does the same. The game is played by either one player versus the computer in split screen or between two players through a spilt screen.
The basic movements consist of walking around the Desert Island (which can be of various complexities depending on the level of difficulty) in search of the missile parts, laying traps and confronting your nemesis. Along the way the player may fall victim to traps and sabotage devices such as bombs and trip wires that have been placed by the other spy. On the island there are also various natural hazards such as quick sand which can also harm your spy.
Both spies have a health meter which is shortened after suffering damage either through a man made or natural trap or though direct confrontation (read battle) with the other spy. When both players enter the same area, no others actions save for flight or fight may be executed. If you should kill the opposing spy you receive all of the items which they were carrying. However, if you should die, the opponent will receive your items.
The computer opponents can also have their intelligence set to varying degrees of difficulty at the onset of the game through the IQ meter. There is a time limit on the length of stay on the island, and it is set depending on the difficulty level you have set the game too. When time runs out, everyone else on the island's time runs out as well. ~ Ryan Glover, All Game Guide
