DESCRIPTION
Sprint Car Racing thunders its way onto your PC with funky shaped roof wings, a variety of vehicles and three gameplay options featuring the Single Race, Practice and Circuit modes. There are eight sprint cars from which to choose including the Deuces Wild, Ocho Loco, frog-like Ribbit and Hornet. Not only does each vehicle have varying acceleration, speed and track handling ratings, they also lose wheels and suffer damaged frames and fenders upon collision with other cars and side-rails.
Whichever vehicle you choose, you have five different tracks to race on including the Round Rock Raceway, Dry Creek Speedway, Route 88 Raceway, Delamater and New Lebanon Speedway. Tracks are designed with environmental objects such as large boulders, trees, fences, fields, dirt and racing signs. Regardless of the racing mode chosen, you race against five computer-controlled opponents on any given course.
Created by Daylight Productions, Sprint Car Racing features accelerated Direct 3D graphics with customizable screen resolutions; software rendering is also selectable. There are three varied camera views including two chase angles and a first-person viewpoint. Additionally, there are options to raise or lower the graphical detail and turn weather effects on or off — when enabled, there are rain, fog and snowy conditions.
Sprint Car Racing comes with three skill levels including easy, normal and hard and supports keyboard, wheel and joystick controls. There is a timer that constantly counts down and you need to either reach the finish line or a checkpoint before it reaches zero. Once it reaches zero, you lose the race. ~ Matthew House, All Game Guide
