DESCRIPTION

Developed by Vicarious Visions, the studio that created Spider-Man 2 for Game Boy Advance, this launch title is designed to make use of the Nintendo DS' unusual mix of features as it translates the movie license for play on the handheld. Though basically two-dimensional, the action plays out in 3D rendered environments; with a movement scheme reminiscent of the contemporary GameCube and PS2 hit Viewtiful Joe, Spider-Man side-scrolls down a path that bends and twists through the three-dimensional levels. As he progresses through the adventure (which follows the plot of the film), Spidey unlocks new special moves, which can be selected using the lower touch screen of the DS. The touch screen is also used for control in certain boss fights and mini-challenges, which are incorporated into the upper-screen's main action. ~ T.J. Deci, All Game Guide
