DESCRIPTION
Space Harrier is back from the Land of Dragons and is ready for action in this Genesis continuation of the legendary saga that began in the arcades.
The year is 6236. The game is Space Harrier II. Armed with his trusty laser blaster, Space Harrier responds to a distress call and is sent via intergalactic teleportation to Fantasyland, a world in the 214th sector. This faraway land deep within the universe is under attack by space phantoms, multi-headed reptiles, wicked wizards and other cosmic creatures.
To bring peace to Fantasyland, our hero must shoot as many creatures as he can and avoid obstacles (such as trees, enemy fire, rocks and columns) through 12 stages of combat. At the end of each stage, he must face a giant boss character. After surviving five stages, he'll enter a bonus round in which he'll board a flying saucer and blast away at targets.
You view Space Harrier from behind and can maneuver him in a flying position all over screen or run him along the ground. The laser blaster shoots forward into the distance; you can turn Rapid Fire on or off. Also, you can choose from three difficulty levels and select the stage at which you would like to begin.
Space Harrier II is for one player only. The game ends when you lose all your lives or when you survive all twelve stages. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide
