Featured on the cover of The Who's album It's Hard, Space Duel is the second Asteroids sequel (after Asteroids Deluxe). The game sounds and plays similarly to Asteroids (thrust, rotate, shoot), but contains enough differences to make it a more than worthwhile addition to the genre. While both games have vector graphics, the black-and-white asteroids have been replaced by a variety of colorful, more animated objects. The ship isn't quite as quick (acceleration takes a bit longer), but it moves faster once it picks up speed. The biggest deviation from the Asteroids formula is that of a uniquely enjoyable and challenging two-player mode in which the two ships are tethered together and players cooperate to destroy the space clutter. A competitive option with separated ships is also available. Regardless of which game mode is selected, Space Duel is a blast. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide
