DESCRIPTION
Sonic the Hedgehog makes a bold return to handheld gaming in Sonic the Hedgehog Pocket Adventure for the NeoGeo Pocket Color. Sonic Pocket Adventure marks the first Sonic installment on a portable system since he last graced the screen of the Game Gear in 1993.
Now he's back, portrayed this time in his more familiar 16-bit form. Sonic Pocket Adventure showcases the NeoGeo Pocket Color's graphics and processing capabilities by essentially making this port an almost direct duplication of 1992's Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Genesis.
Dr. Robotnik has captured hundreds of Sonic's animal friends, and it's up to our little blue buddy to save the day. It's time to tighten those sneaker laces and zip, spin and bounce your way through fifteen levels of familiar loops, grassy knolls, moving platforms, spirals pointing up, down, left, right and everywhere in between.
Enter seven main zones including Neo South Island, Cosmic Casino and the Aerobase. All of Dr. Robotnik's mechanized nasties are here, and you've got to deprogram them before they get you first, sending your collection of protective rings flying all over the place.
A few extras find their way into the port that make Sonic Pocket Adventure a unique experience, even if you've played Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The game has a built-in save feature which eliminates the need for finishing the game in one sitting.
A Time Trial mode and Advanced mode require you to complete certain tasks within each level in order to pass. The duel mode allows you to link your NeoGeo Pocket Color to a friend's and play the ring-collecting bonus game competitively. There's even a puzzle mode that allows you to build, then solve your own Sonic tile puzzle. ~ Christian Huey, All Game Guide
