Those looking for a realistic snowboarding title stay well clear as Snowboard Kids is as cute as Diddy Kong Racing and as realistic as Mario Kart 64. Developed and published by Atlus Interactive, in a nutshell this the style and power ups of Mario Kart 64 mixed with the snowboarding and environments of 1080 Snowboarding or Cool Boarders.
The game features a multi player mode where up to four players can take to the snow in furious white-knuckle multiplayer battles that will push you to the limit. Players also have the ability to earn boards on top of the selectable nine differently styled and "skilled" boards and race with five different characters including Slash, Linda, Nancy, Jam, and Tommy. Players can also take up the action in five different modes (battle race, multiplayer battle, time attack, and skill games) of play including half-pipe and nine highly distinctive tracks set over various terrains (not just snow!) and locations are also available.
Snowboard Kids also allows players to complete complex tricks, in fact over 36 of them while designers can repaint and choose from numerous designs to customize their own boards. Atlus have also managed to support rumble pak while the game's power ups are very Mario Kart 64 like but with a secondary weapon.
As a fun and unrealistic snowboarding title, Snowboard kids is a diversion from 1080 Snowboarding with this top class production expected to be a real winner with the youngsters. ~ Brad Penniment, All Game Guide
