Prepare to do battle with the evil King Scorch and his army of Ice Commandos. Players take on the role of one of the Snow Brothers, Nick or Tom. They are trapped in the snowdrifts but are getting ready to make their escape.
Levels consist of single screens featuring a number of ledges. Players will need to make their way up the ledges to reach the top of each floor. After every 10 floors there will be a boss round. Bosses are large and will throw deadly creatures at our heroes who must roll oversized snowballs at them. Once a boss round is successfully completed a bonus round will become available. In bonus rounds players activate a slot machine to obtain letters and eventually spell out various words for different power-ups or extra chances.
The bad guys that must be battled throughout the game come in many different forms. There is Pumpkin Head, Ogroid, Fridge, and a variety of others. Let an enemy touch you and a life will be lost as your turned into slush. Both Nick and Tom fight back with snowballs and pelt their enemies until they have become one giant snowball. Make sure the enemy covered in snow is removed before the snow melts and it comes after you again.
When an enemy is defeated, it may leave a special treat behind. Most of these treats are in the form of a food item and simply reward the player with bonus points. However, the hot sauce treats are actual power-ups. Red hot sauce improves a character's running and jumping speed, blue hot sauce powers up a character's snowball shots, and green hot sauce speeds up those snowball shots.
Two other power-ups come in the forms of jars: one turns you into an invincible flying giant while the other warps you into King Scorch's treasure room. At the treasure room, players will roll snowballs and cause an avalanche in an attempt to bowl over snow faces. Each one that is bowled over allows players to obtain letters that can be used in conjunction with those from the bonus round.
In each game of Snow Brothers, players begin with three chances. There are also four continues that each contain three chances apiece. However, in two-player games both players do not each receive four continues; instead they must share the four continues. ~ Jonathan Sutyak, All Game Guide
