DESCRIPTION
EA's plan to challenge Activision's reigning Tony Hawk series for skateboarding supremacy proved to be a critical and commercial success, and the once original IP Skate officially becomes a franchise with the release of Skate 2. Players return to the mythical city of San Vanelona after a five-year hiatus, only to find security forces from the Mongo Corporation heavily patrolling a landscape drastically altered by earthquakes. Gamers must help restore the city's reputation as a skating Mecca by shredding around town and meeting up with 25 different professional skaters, including longtime vets Danny Way and Eric Koston.
The game once again makes use of a control scheme that relies heavily on the shoulder buttons and analog sticks, and Skate 2 doubles the total number of tricks available in its predecessor. There are more than 20 different areas through which gamers can ollie, rail slide, and kickflip, and the new option to roam freely on foot and manipulate more than 100 different objects means players can put together an infinite number of unique skating lines. The "skate.Reel" replay feature returns, once again letting gamers relive all of their best tricks, and a new graphics creator means skaters can outfit their gears and decks with original designs. ~ Christopher Brown, All Game Guide

Well minus the temper tantrums (well kind of)--any time I have had twenty something guests over I have had similar issues.
Yep issues in the list from one to ten, are all stuff I have seen (way too often) from people in their twenty somethings.

I also feel for you when you say one or two out of a huge ass collection. Most of the time I'm forced to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 out of the what? 40+ combined xbox 360 & original xbox games I have.
For some of the things such as my battery pack I've told their parents that the kids owe me such and such amount for a replacement and the parents while irritated, agreed to help the kids pay me off. So I'm guessing the kids will be doing slave labor inorder to get money from their parents :)

“@mrvista360 - hey, I am one of five people in the known universe that enjoys Two Worlds. Well 'enjoy' is a bit strong, I tolerate it with random instances of enjoyment. My wife is another of the five. @Katrinathelamia - The Digital Millenium Copyright Act allows for people to keep backup copies of all software and music that they own legitimate copies thereof. I had to write a paper on it in college. Then again, I am not aware of any changes made to such legislation since then. But it was a topic of debate during the whole Napster debacle and the ongoing piracy epidemic that has been going on since. @bonemane - Your story reminds me why I miss cartridges. They were so @#$% durable! Every game disc should come with a protective coating on them for scratch resistance. I don't let anyone under the age of 12 touch my game systems,and even then it is a case by case basis with extreme supervision for the first hour or so. Just to make sure they don't chainsaw any discs. ”

The case ruled that the game companies provide enough decent service, that a back up is completely unnecessary, and thus not an admissible defense.
So, yeah, as of about 2006 and 2007, backups are no longer a legal reason to have more than one copy of your game.”

“That sucks if we can't make backup of the games we own since they get scratched up WAAAAAAAY too easy nowadays. I remember those old black ps1 disks could take a beating and still work flawlessly.
I started noticing the disks started getting fragile once the ps2 came out. The disk to my interact *ugh* memory card slipped off my coffee table and shattered into pieces and its was only like two feet high. Also, I kept dozens of ps2 demo discs and games in a giant cd booklet I had and never touched them for years only to find them all scratched up after taking them out a little bit ago.
It was real surprising since some of those games I've only played for like an hour and put them away and others such as demos disks I had multiple copies of so I NEVER played them and still they scratched almost to the point of no return =/

“@bettadud Think about it, you have a bunch of CDs in even closer proximity to each other than normal grinding against each other constantly every time the container is moved. As long as you don't move the thing or place anything on it. Cases are much safer for discs. Not as efficient in terms of space though.”

Yeah I just threw out about 30 or so broken hard jewel cases myself. They might have less chances of scratching up your cds, but unless you store them properly or buy some heavy duty ones you're just going to end up with cracked cases and plastic bits everywhere.
With hard cases I'd go with the same ones as the 360 and old ps2 cases. They're heavy duty and will last long, but after awhile they look so tired and worn.”

The only sad thing is: Movie ratings parents latched onto from the start as "need to know" information. Those same parents tend to be completely oblivious to the fact that there is a rating system for video games.

Video games have much the same issues of just merely being downplayed so much.
The only sad thing is: Movie ratings parents latched onto from the start as "need to know" information. Those same parents tend to be completely oblivious to the fact that there is a rating system for video games.
I dunno, if these parents are ones to ignore the "Explicit Lyrics" sticker on CDs/Albums.

Well, that is the thing: you do still get games that are wonderful for kids to play.
The secret is mostly to do what Walt Disney did when he made movies.
That whole "ironic quote" of "There is no money to be made in making children's cartoons" is quite correct actually.

Also, I am glad we're all in agreement here but lets be honest this is a support group for adult gamers ;) Hopefully we can start a new generation though where we play games alongside our children. I also hope that when I have kids I can teach them to be responsible with their belongings and understand the value of a dollar because I'd be heartbroken to have to yank a DS or handheld device out of their hands, and then go play with it myself. “Both my girls have a DS, and play on "my" systems and I've never had a problem. They know how much a game costs (because they've had to save up to buy one). If they do start getting careless (which means they left a DS out of its case when not in use), then it becomes "mine" for a day =D”

“I like doing both. Games are great but every once in a while seeing the light of day is good too. Both in moderation are awesome. I love to jump on the bike and run up to the local dive to see friends or a band, get a bucket of wings and a couple of beers rather than just queing up some mp3s and sitting in front of the screen all night. 1) Goto a pub or a nightclub or a bar.
Easy formula to reply to. Say that you really do not enjoy that scene--or just have not found a nightclub that is not total balls.
2) Go to a park, go for a run--get outside.
I do. I enjoy going for walks out side when it is nice. I like to think I am very physically active, and will go for walks to help sort out my stress. Though, when it is minus fourty degrees, there is five feet of snow on the ground and a rather chilly wind with it... I need to do something in doors.
3) I dunno--anything.

4) You need to get laid.
You say that, like you would be interested in it. -cue the other person getting awkward, and trying to walk away... as not only do they not want to do me... they are at a loss for people interested in me to set me up with-

I mean--I understand why certain store owners hate the youth that come in an do this.. or at least treat them horribly. It is because you waste their time, looking at products you never will be able to afford, and waste the time of the sales people to handle stuff you are never going to give the store money for.
I mean, okay if I worked in the store, that kind of accusation is bad. But when I know these people--and would be hanging out with them... seeing them do it just pisses me off even more.

But when I tell them on their guilty conscience that I get commission, they automatically feel bad. Of course I make hourly wages too. LOL. I won't say that. I do have a tendency of making people feel bad in a bad way or in a sad way. & I am a smartass when I am on a role.

Lol. That's what happened to me & my fiancee, but he never came to live w/us. Lol.
& some Texans are very racist & will still fly the Stars & Bars flag aka the Confederate Flag. I see it as heritage, not hate. Others are a little diff. & even say "The South Will Rise Again."

“well, the problem with matchmaking is it takes away the community aspect of random multiplayer. with 'join a server' based systems I always eventually find 3 or 4 servers I really like and always play on them, eventually making alot of friends, each server having its own mini community. On certain games great care is taken to try and prevent you being matched up with people of a much higher rank, although of course it isn't infallible- but matchmaking itself is a wonderful thing, and key to online play for many many people; it allows you to (almost) instantly find a match with a wide variety of different players, and should you want to play with other people after that, you can search again for other games!

but yea while there might be more morons then a few but if we just keep muting them they we'll run out of people to yell at and then us normal gamers can habe normal fun without hearing "YOU GOT RAPED N00B" followed right with "MOM GET ME SOME MILK AND A SANDWICH" I don't mind shit talking, in fact I try to see how far he will take his net rage and goat him(I know I am feeding the trolls, but sometimes it's fun and you know it lol) but most games now a days have a simple system to mute, press back and highlight and for the most part press Y or A to mute depends on the game.
Also use the Feedback system, avoid Racist little whinny kids, or even adults that can't handle playing a simple game without screaming.”

“@Hoffasgrave Yeah, I use the feedback system a lot. I tend to only want to play with gamers with a 5 star score, and I click avoid on people that annoyed me even a little bit. When you get picky, you tend to get better choices in the end.”
