DESCRIPTION
Told in classic Noir fashion, Sinking Island is a whodunit mystery adventure in which players must unravel the circumstances of the mysterious death of Walter Jones, a billionaire found dead at the foot of the gigantic tower he built on a tropical island. Gamers take on the role of inspector Jack Norm, who, because of the massive storm that is ravaging the island and causing the tower to sink, has only three days to interview the ten people who were on the island when Jones died. Gameplay consists of a classic point-and-click interface, and players can use their personal assistant to record evidence and review the statements from all ten suspects. Gamers must use deductive reasoning and follow a checklist of ten simple questions to make headway in the investigation. ~ Christopher Brown, All Game Guide

“This is a crime investigation game that let's you play the role of a police detective conducting a murder investigation while stuck on a small island with a colorful bunch of characters. Gamplay consists among other things of searching for clues and evidence and taking fingerprints and footprints. But above all it consists of interviewing suspects. There is a lot of dialog in the game. This is not a bad thing in itself, since the dialog is well written and interesting. However, the focus on interviewing does mean that significant portions of the game can be completed simply by talking to everyone about everything, which makes the game a bit less of an interesting challenge. The game is quite enjoyable though, with beautiful graphics, pleasant music, a detailed and rather interesting if not entirely original story and above all a lot of fun detective work to do (although as mentioned mostly interviewing of suspects).”
