DESCRIPTION
Silent Hill Origins is a prequel in Konami's most successful survival horror series. Players take the role of trucker Travis Grady, who comes to the famously fog-laden town for a routine delivery. Origins features the debut of the "Cineractive" system, designed to intensify feelings of isolation and uncertainty in the player. Through a "quick-time event"-style mechanic, gamers react to cut-scenes by entering button sequences at key moments, to respond to their current situation with a counter-attack or quick dodge, for example. As he works his way through the game, Travis can collect everyday items such as portable electronics, garden tools, and kitchen knives, to use as weapons against the soulless monsters that inhabit the town of Silent Hill. Each potential armament has a durability rating, and all objects will eventually break if used too often. To complete the game, Travis must make his way through the traps, puzzles, and monsters that seem to appear suddenly out of the miasma when he least expects them. ~ All Game Guide

“A decent first attempt for an outside developer to tackle the Silent Hill series. The game was good overall, but being able to move between the real and nightmare worlds removed a lot of the tension that made its predecessors so gripping. The larger emphasis on combat also crippled the game. With so many weapons at your disposal the creatures no longer posed a threat and felt more like inconvenient obstacles.”

“SH0 was a great game and very dark. I had it originally for PSP then got the PS2 version when it was available. I liked many aspects of the game but it wasn't the greatest. ”

“Tried this game out, since I like the SH series pretty well. Its garbage. Poorly implemented fighting that includes quicktime events, and little to no story for as far as I could put up with it. ...”
