Set sail in the Caribbean on a quest for fame and fortune. Enter into the 17th century as either a French or English Buccaneer, Dutch Adventurer, or Spanish Renegade. Select from four difficulty levels, five special abilities, and six time periods. Or choose to command a famous expedition instead.

In Pirates! you choose which countries to fight for. You don't need to support your home country if you do not wish to. As you defeat enemies of the countries you support, you will be promoted and sometimes receive land. Conquering towns and other ships will lead to the capture of gold, silver, food, goods, sugar, and or extra cannons.

Throughout your journey on the high seas you will take part in treasure hunts, ship-to-ship battles, land battles, and fencing duels. Lead groups of sailors and command a fleet of ships as you attempt to become rich, famous, and married. ~ Jonathan Sutyak, All Game Guide
