DESCRIPTION
Starring the original ronin hero of Chunsoft's Mystery Dungeon, Shiren the Wanderer is a classically styled combat adventure that spans a millennium. From a slightly angled top-down perspective, players guide the hero and his companions on dungeon-crawls through the mythology of feudal Japan. Along with his faithful ferret companion, Koppa, Shiren can be accompanied into dungeons by up to two companions, including other distinctly gifted heroes and rogues who join the adventure along the way. Players can take direct control of each character in the party, or focus on Shiren while the computer controls the others. Dungeons are stocked with monsters, traps, and treasure. Combat plays out in a turn-based fashion. Characters gain strength as they adventure and gain new equipment. Special items, such as the mysterious Dragon Orbs discovered in dungeons, can be used to imbue items with new powers and abilities. Unlike earlier games in the series, the Wii edition of Shiren the Wanderer offers two difficulty settings, allowing new players to learn the game in "Easy" mode while Mystery Dungeon veterans can quest for greater rewards in the more challenging "Normal" mode. The adventure begins as Shiren, once a dedicated samurai warrior, receives a mysterious key from his uncle and former master, known as Sensei. He is told that the key unlocks the fabled Karakuri Mansion, a labyrinthine place, where adventurers have been known to become lost in time, as well as in its twisting corridors. ~ T.J. “And--picked this game up.
It is--well--a very nice 3d version of the Mystery Dungeon games that Shiren is noted for.
Though--that is just it. It has a slightly different plot, yes, but this essentially is the Genesis and NDS game--but with rendered graphics instead of sprites and the camera angle lowered a bit.
It feels kind of... well... cheap.
I mean--even doing a rendered environment in the turn based system that these games are associated with the square map thing is kind of offsetting.
I mean--it would not have been hard to have a turn based system, without relying on the tiled map system. Have an automatically generated landscape--or something.
I mean--from what I have seen, this is another game, that makes me wonder how it warranted having a disc, instead of being downloadable from Wii Shop. Maybe as I play, I will see the amount of in game stuff that would have justified the company having the shelf space at the store to justify putting it on disc.
The world is well, just a polygon rendered version of the previous tile based sprite games. Which were fun for their game play--but the 3d graphics just seem... well... plastic.
A better review will come as I have played through the game more. However, this seems to be just like all the other Mystery Dungeon games thus far.”

Or they have been hit with enough EMR interference to cause issues in their running.
I mean, looking at some of the weird crap that happens around me, looks like, if I were an X-Men my abilities would be:
* Electrokinesis
* Empathy
* Regeneration (on levels of various members of the Weapon X project)
* Night vision
That last bit pointing to the Weapon X project just creeps me the fvck out, as I live in the province that the fiction project takes place in. The odd thing is: I know a few other people in this province that have similar abilities to deal with injury.
But yeah--I would probably think I was nuts--if electronics did not end up acting like they were EMP'd every now and then. Also the fact that i can easily short out current reading equipment
Now, I merely hold this idea from my "Lack of Nirvana Fallacy Logical Fallacy". Once somebody can give a much more logical and reasonable explanation, I will probably latch onto that, like starving flesh eating weasels on some unsuspecting person's face.”
