As an upstart pirate captain in Shipwreckers!, you embark on a journey across the seven seas, doing what comes naturally; namely, finding treasure, pillaging, and attacking any luckless ships that wander into your path. Viewed from a top-down overhead perspective, Shipwreckers! is an offbeat, comical adventure. As you navigate the myriad of puzzles, traps and challenges found in the game, keep a sharp eye out for map bottles floating throughout each of the five exotic locales, which allow you to exit each world. At your disposal is an arsenal of weird and wonderful weapons, ranging from traditional cannonballs to magical bolts of lightning.
Weapons such as the cannons can be fired from either, the left or right-hand side of your vessel. If your ship sustains too much damage it will catch on fire and continue to burn (and thus deplete your health) for a period of time, or until you can find something with which to douse the flames. Seaside towns can be conquered (indicated by erecting a skull and crossbones flag when docking there), and will provide places to replenish items when in need. Broken up into a number of smaller levels, each world is guarded by a single, large boss, whether it is an ominous genie or evil sea creature.
A multiplayer mode allows up to five players to compete in ten different deathmatch-style arenas. The last ship alive wins the round, and the overall winner is the first person to get the requisite number of victories (the number of victories is user defined). Shipwreckers! supports both the memory card as well as a password feature to enable players to save their progress. ~ Gavin Frankle, All Game Guide
